Matt Lavelle joined Tyton Partners in August 2018 as a Vice President in the investment banking practice.  Previously, Matt was Director of Strategy & Corporate Development at Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE:UTI), a leading nationwide provider of skilled trades education, servicing students in post-secondary and corporate training settings.  Matt’s work at UTI incorporated a wide range of functions, including capital allocation strategy, development of M&A opportunities, and operational advisory and support.

Before UTI, Matt worked at Coliseum Capital Management where he engaged in diligence and execution of complex transactions targeting investments in the middle market space, including the education sector.  In addition to his transaction experience, Matt gained extensive knowledge of governance matters through service in board roles at both public and private companies in the U.S. and abroad.  Prior to Coliseum, Matt’s experience spanned the capital markets, with positions in global equity research and municipal finance advisory.

Matt earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.  He is a CFA Charterholder and belongs to the CFA Society of Stamford, Connecticut.
