Dr. Shlomy Kattan is a Managing Director and joined Tyton Partners in 2022 in the strategy consulting Practice. Shlomy joins the firm with over two decades of experience leading organizations at the intersection of innovation and social impact as a social entrepreneur, strategy consultant, impact investor, and nonprofit executive and Board member.
Prior to joining Tyton Partners, as an independent consultant, Shlomy advised investors, foundations, and nonprofit organizations on innovation, strategy, and partnership development with a particular focus on human equity. Projects included leading the research and development of a public benefit investing venture with a group of impact-focused family offices and foundations and advising a national education nonprofit on its long-term strategic plan.
Shlomy was previously Chief Advancement Officer of the XPRIZE Foundation, the global leader in designing and implementing large-scale innovation competitions, where he led XPRIZE’s comprehensive fundraising efforts through a period of rapid growth, more than doubling lifetime prize purses to $350M. He also conceived, developed, recruited the Advisory Board, and secured funding for the XPRIZE Racial Equity Alliance.
Prior to being named Chief Advancement Officer, Shlomy was Executive Director of the Foundation’s Education & Social Impact practice area and served as Prize Lead of the Adult Literacy XPRIZE. Before joining XPRIZE, Shlomy was co-founder & CEO of Kudo Learning, an award-winning angel- and government-funded mission-driven education technology startup that created the top children’s learning app in five Latin American markets. He was previously a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group advising Fortune 500 companies on value creation strategies, innovation, transformation, and marketing. Before joining BCG, Shlomy had a decade-long career in both traditional education and e-learning.
Shlomy holds a PhD and MA in Education from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a Wenner-Gren Foundation Fellow and from which he graduated with Distinction. He serves on the Governing Boards of the Organization for Social Media Safety, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, and the Social-Emotional Learning Challenge in Israel. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children. He has lived and worked in the United States, Israel, Brazil, Chile, and Ecuador, and speaks or reads eight languages.
