About Gates

Gates Bryant is a catalyst for transformation in the higher education ecosystem, bridging the gap between bold strategy and practical execution. With a career spanning general management, investment consulting, strategy and execution advisory work, he has built a reputation for delivering game-changing insights and results for institutions, companies, foundations, and investors.

As a partner at Tyton Partners, Gates co-leads the Center for Higher Education Transformation and drives strategic consulting initiatives that fuel growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability. He regularly advises companies on growth initiatives throughout the higher education market; works with institutional leaders on strategic initiatives and transformative partnerships that improve growth and sustainability; and supports foundations and investors as they navigate market evolution and innovation across teaching and learning, student success, and institutional effectiveness.

Gates is also a sought-after speaker and author, often sharing his expertise on digital learning, student success, and public-private partnerships in higher education.

Before joining Tyton Partners, Gates played a pivotal role at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, leading strategy, product management, and finance efforts during a period of significant industry disruption. Earlier in his career, he spent seven years at The Parthenon Group, where he advised clients on revenue growth, profit optimization, and M&A strategies in education, publishing, and technology.
